As the name suggest the Phyang Tsedup Festival is celebrated on 2nd and 3rd day of the 6th month of Tibetan Calendar in the Phyang Monastery. Its located about 20km away from Leh town. The festival is dedicated to Jigten Gombo – the founder of Dringumpa Monastic Dynasty. During the festival the monks of the monastery wear rich silk costumes perform Chham. The Thankha (painting) of Jigten Gombo which signifies the victory of good over the evil. During the festival various kinds of mark are worn and each mask signifies a message from the lord Buddha. Few of the ritual offerings are burnt on the last day of the festival and the Storma is destroyed to conclude the procession. One can definitely consider this into their itinerary during their visit to Ladakh in July.
