The Galdan Namchot Festival is celebrated all over Ladakh in the month of December. It is celebrated in the honour of Je Tsongkhapa for his work on formation of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. This date is also considered as New year in Ladakh. During this period the region of Ladakh is lit up with Lights and traditional dishes are prepared. The dish is shared with relatives and also a White / Cream Scarf called Khatak is offered to the loved ones.
