As the name suggest, the Hemis Festival is celebrated at the Hemis Monastery. It is a two day festival celebrated on the 10th day of the lunar month of the Tibetan calendar year. Its celebrated on the honor of the birth of Guru Padmasambhava. The monks of the monastery wear the color mask and dance in front of the huge ladakhi crowd is the highlight of the festival. Each mask worn by the monk has its significance. It also marks the victory over the evil.
