KARMA DUPGYUD CHOELING MONASTERY

Karma Dupgyud Choeling Monastery is located 9 km away from Leh. The monastery was founded by Lama Chimi Dorje Rimpoche in the year 1973. The name is given by HH.the late 16^th Gyalwa Karmapa Rangjung Rigpe Dorje. The monastery is looked after by a sect of Tibetan Buddhist called Karmapa. The monastery performs in propagating the morals of Tibetan Buddhism. The place is very quiet and religious so you will find extreme intellectual peace. The monastery realizes the requisites and importance of average education so the monastery started a school in 1997. The structure of the monastery is a Tibetan sample which indicates the Buddhist tradition and lifestyle in an extraordinarily attractive manner.

The best time to visit Karma Dupgyud Choeling Monastery is between June to October. To experience more you can visit on the festive times. Every year in the month of Tibetan calendar, the puja of Mani Thung Chur is being arranged. There are numerous festivals and pujas in the monastery. Every year the puja starts with fasting from 14^th and 15^th day of starting month.
