KHARDUNG LA

Khardung La is the highest motorable road in the world at 5,328 metres above the sea level. It is famously known as the gateway to the Nubra and Shyok Valley in Ladakh. One can experience wonderful views along the way. The pass is maintained by the Border Roads Organisation. The best time to visit is between March to May and September to October. Khardung La is located 40 Km from Leh by road. In order to reach the spot from Leh, one can hire cabs and buses are easily available. Indian tourists needs an Inner Line Permit while international tourists need Protected Area Permit to visit Khardung La Pass.
