Kung Tso Lake is also called as Chilling Tso Lake. The Kyun Tso and Ryul Tso Lake are twin lakes at a distance of 6km apart near Hanle in the Chumathang Region of Ladakh. The lakes are less explored as the roads leading to them are not in good condition. The area is quite restricted as its close to the India China border.
The Lakes are located at the Chumathang region and will be about 217 km from Leh and will take about 7-8 hrs to reach this point. The permits are not easily provided and hence very less people visit the area. The route map and distance for the lakes are given below.
Leh – Karu (36 km) – Upshi (13 km) – Ikpadok (20 Km) – Kiari (52 Km) – Chumathang (30 Km) – Mahe (24 km) – Ryul Lake (49 km) – Chilling Tso Lake (6 km)
Any time between June to September is a good time to visit the Kyun Tso & Ryul Tso Lake.
