Mirpal Tso lake is a tiny fresh water located in the Chumathang Valley of Ladakh. The lake is surrounded by the sand shore and makes it unique from other lakes. Its located at an altitude of 16,122 ft. During winters the water freezes and make a stockpile of water which is summer starts melting and appear to be in royal blue on bright sunny days offering spectacular views with beautiful landscape.
The Mirpal Lake can be reached from Leh (205 km) and from Pangong Lake (90 km).
If you want to travel to Mirpal Tso Lake from Leh then it will take about 6-7 hours. To make this journey beautiful we recommend to start the journey early in the morning so that you can take a lot of breaks and photograph the beautiful landscape which you encounter in the journey. The route of the journey is given below.
Leh – Karu (36 Km) – Upshi (13 Km) – Ikpadok (20 Km) – Kiari (52 Km) – Chumathang (30 Km) – Mahe (24 Km) – Mirpal Tso Lake (45 Km)
One of the nearest lakes to Panogong Tso Lake is Mirpal Tso Lake. The jounrye is not about 4 hours as the road conditions are not great and will need much time than normal. Need special permit to reach this place.
Lukung – Merak (34 km) – Chushal (25 km) – Mirpal Tso Lake (28 km)
The best time to visit Mirpal Lake is in summer from June to September. There are no such hotel or camping accommodation nearby Mirpal lake. However, small guesthouse can be found a little distance nearby.
